The basic blocks of ZWDS (1)

A ZWDS chart consists of 12 boxes or palaces. In these palaces, lies the 12 Earthly zodiacs, 10 Heavenly stems, the 12 life palaces and the 18 stars that tells the story of our destiny from the time we were born.

Each palace represents one of the 12 zodiac animals in the Earthly branches and their position is fixed. The 12 Zodiac represents positions, directions, space and time arranged in a clockwise manner with Zi (Rat) starting in the North palace at the bottom of the chart. More details in upcoming posts.

The 10 Heavenly stems are assigned to the chart calculated based on the of a person’s year of birth, starting from the palace of Yin in the North East sector of the chart. Since there are only 10 stems, the palaces of Zi and Chou will follow the initial 2 stems of the Yin and Mao palaces.

So based on the table below, a person born in 1960 or 2020 which is a Geng Zi (庚子) year, the Yin palace will start with the Wu stem, Mao palace will have the Ding stem and so on in a clockwise manner.
